Here is a list of some of the trainings that OTAC has to offer related to person centered thinking and planning. We can also tailor these classes to your specific needs.

Facilitating Person Centered Plans This one day class is a follow up to the person centered thinking class. It looks at the different person centered thinking tools and skills in building a person centered description and from that description we address how to do planning. PREREQUISITE:Participants must attend the two day Person Centered Thinking training before taking this class. Click here to request this training
People Planning Together This two day training serves as a foundation for everyone who is supporting people with significant disabilities. Implementation and ongoing support of person centered plans and services is more likely where staff have participated in this session. This session is a prerequisite for the Person Centered Thinking Coaches training and the One-day Person Centered Planning class. Click here to request this training
Person Centered Planning – Facilitation Training This three-day course is designed as an intensive opportunity to learn basic person centered planning techniques. Plus a half day mentoring session for each participant. Click here to request this training
Person Centered Planning for Community Employment Participants will observe an actual PCP with an employment focus, and practice information gathering techniques that will allow them to determine possible job categories and support strategies for employment success. They will learn how to provide technical assistance and training to families, agencies and providers in the areas of employment, person centered planning and community development leading to the successful placement of individuals with disabilities. They will learn to foster collaborative relationships with school districts, providers, businesses and agencies. Request this training
Person Centered Thinking – Coaches Training This class is for people who have already taken our 2-day Person Centered Thinking training. Participants learn skills needed to coach their colleagues in Person Centered Practices and provides further instruction on using the PCT Tools. Request this training

Positive and Productive Meetings Positive and Productive Meetings is a collaborative process that creates a respectful and supportive environment that enables people to think clearly and therefore do their best work. The strategies and person centered thinking tools you will use promote listening and creative thinking. They draw from your strengths and the strengths of your teammates and colleagues. They provide a structure that allows teams to focus on outcomes, helping to build great meetings out of the raw material you already have. Positive and Productive Meetings focuses on very human elements. After all, it is the people who make the meeting. Despite this human focus, Positive and Productive Meetings is a solid professional tool that delivers measurable results. People come to the meeting prepared; meetings run more smoothly. Things get done and everyone leaves the meeting with clear tasks and timelines. And they come to the next meeting prepared. Request this training
Two-Day Person Centered Thinking (PCT) This class is a foundation for everyone who is supporting people with disabilities and participates in providing ongoing supports of person centered plans and services. Each day will run 9 AM – 4 PM with an hour for lunch on your own.This class is a prerequisite for person centered thinking coaches and one day person centered planning class. Request this training
Facilitating a Person Centered Process for Planning

Also know as: Using Person Centered Practices to Facilitate Plan Development

***PREREQUISITE: Participants must have attended a Person Centered Thinking Class within the last two years.***This three day, hands-on workshop will strengthen and improve your skills in asking questions, gathering information, and planning for action. Participants completing this class will have stronger skills to facilitate person centered plans as well as any required annual plan. This class is recommended for services coordinators, personal agents, program managers, and others that lead the planning process.Day 1 (Date): Focus on gathering information and demonstrating respect and partnership to all people involved in the person’s life. We will explore asking questions and sorting through answers.

Day 2 (Date): Focus on organizing and synthesizing information so that it becomes useful and contributes to the person’s service plan. We’ll bridge from gathering information to developing effective action plans. Participants will leave with an assignment to develop a one-page description using the tools learned and bring that description back with them on the third day.

Day 3: This follow-up session occurs on (Date). Participants will bring a one-page plan they created in the interim and build on it throughout the day. Information covered this day will include:
*How the process of gathering information can differ from person to person
*Adding to plans as we learn new information
*Going from Action plans to meaningful outcomes
*Using Communication Charts and Relationship maps to identify outcomes
